Drawing Lab | Paris
Drawing Lab, Paris, France
Drawing Lab is closed until further notice. The exhibition will be extended through June 2020.
Lucy + Jorge Orta's first exhibition dedicated to drawing at Drawing Lab Paris, curated by Blandine Roselle.
Even though the practice of drawing is an essential component of their projects, Lucy + Jorge Orta have never shown the complete process of their creation, which notably relies on drawing. For Drawing Lab, the artists reveal this hidden aspect through stages across three galleries. Key themes summarize their research relating to the preservation of biodiversity, natural resources and social ties, and show a moving, changing, evolving, evolving production. Far from being the simple transcription of each stage, they also feed the reflection and the evolution of their sculptures and installations. An art committed to the preservation of the living.
The exhibition also explores how drawing can encourage collaboration. Workshops led by artists will be at the heart of the curatorial proposal. Lucy + Jorge Orta thus remain faithful to their studio philosophy, based on meeting, exchange, involvement and cooperation. Through these workshops, a collaborative work will be produced in situ over the duration of the exhibition.
