Studio Orta

Arboreal is a bronze sculpture cast from an olive tree, a species long associated with peace, resilience, and continuity. Through the casting process, a living form is fixed at a moment of growth. Emerging from the branches are five seed pods on the verge of opening, emphasising potential rather than completion. This suspended state refers to cycles of regeneration and renewal, while also acknowledging the fragility of these processes within contemporary ecological and political contexts.

Produced in collaboration with the maestros at Berengo Studio, Murano, Venice, the sculpture reflects Lucy + Jorge Orta’s ongoing engagement with material transformation, craft knowledge, and the representation of living systems as sites of ethical and ecological inquiry.
