In ‘Finding the Mother Tree’ (2021) forestry researcher and conservationist Susan Simard reveals how trees communicate and cooperate, challenging our understanding of the interdependency of life forms.

The tree is an occurring motif in the work of Lucy + Jorge Orta referring to the nurturing networks and relationship between trees and other plant species. In ‘Mother Tree’, larger-than-life blossoms burst with life from a rhizomic branch whch has been embroidered onto the coloured canvas.
