The Raft of the Medusa a three-channel video by artists Lucy + Jorge Orta forms part of an immersive installation inspired by the romantic depiction of the shipwreck Le Radeau de la Méduse (Théodore Géricault 1818-1819). A symbol of man’s fragility, helplessness and hope, the Raft of the Medusa evokes the fateful journeys of slaves and migrants throughout history. The film supported by the Arts Council of England (2019) closes a cycle of three performances that took place at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (2013), Les Moulins (2015) and Humber Street Gallery (2017).
