  • Concept: These wearable artworks are linked to Lucy Orta’s longstanding interest in communication and participation. Each accessory is also a kit containing different objects that symbolises a state of emergency: shortages of water or food, loss of love or affection, pollution or environmental disasters. While implicitly linked to the context and themes of the exhibition Aware: Art, Fashion & Identity co-curated by Lucy for the GSK Contemporay at the Royal Academy of the Arts London in 2010, they are designed as communication tools for the security guards, to provoke discussions with the inquisitive visitors to the exhibition.
